Debris booms / boat barriers
Tuffbooms are manufactured by Worthington Products, LLC. who specializes in the high production output of custom molding and other proprietary products from polyethylene.

Each boom is 10' in length, weighs about 110 pounds, filled with polystyrene foam and sealed for durability.

The connecting pins were formally galvanized plates with bushings to minimize the wear of the bolting material (included). These connecting pins have recently been improved upon and are now made out of a high-density conveyor belt type material.

A 9.5 steel channel along the bottom of the float provides superior strength and provides a displacement of approximately 30%.

A debris screen system that attaches to the bottom portion of the log boom is also available for those clients who are concerned with debris moving just below the water surface. These screens typically come galvanized, however, we have had clients who specifically requested that all steel fittings and screens be manufactured out of stainless steel. OOTWE can also provide these screens in non-metallic materials.

With over 300 installations
in the USA & Canada and 12 new projects in Finland & Sweden during 1999, Hydrothane Systems has proven its effectiveness as a reliable alternative to conventional steel trashracks.

Hydrothane was originally developed and patented in 1988 to address problems and deficiencies associated with conventional steel trashracks.

Since its inception, Hydrothane has been recognized for its superior resistance to frazil ice. Simply stated, frazil ice does not easily attach to Hydrothane trashracks. After routine installations in salt water and zebra mussel infested fresh water, it was discovered that the same properties that prevent frazil ice attachment also restrict the growth of marine organisms on the racks themselves, thus spawning another benefit to our customers.

Some of the benifits Hydrothane trashracks provide are:
Streamlined blades
Lightweight (75% lighter than steel)
High load capacity
Reduces headloss
Fish friendly
Eliminates frazil ice problems
Resists marine growth
Eliminates vortex shedding
Non-corrosive
Easy to modify
UV protectors - provide longevity in exposed or submerged conditions.

Erosion Control Mats.
Erosion Control Mats
HEI provides erosion control mats for sub-sea applications to protect against underwater scour as well as a method to stabilize embankments and build beaches.

HEI services include full consulting resources ranging from needs assessments to post installation monitoring.

Through advanced computer models, HEI can engineer a technically sound solution to the clients' erosion problems.

The mats' characteristics are ideally suited to:

Create underwater berms to manage beach erosion.
Minimize apron and shoreline erosion near dams.
Reinforce river dikes and levees.
Provide protection for marsh wildlife and wetland restoration.
Protect underwater telecommunication cable.
Protect subaqueous pipeline crossings.
Stabilize embankments.
